On each gift, you choose who covers the fees: your guests, you or split between you.
What that looks like in practice
Your aunt sends you a $100 gift. Here's where every dollar goes under each of the three fee-payer settings, shown on the page, not hidden behind a calculator widget.
Guests cover
Default. Your guests top up at checkout so you receive the round amount.
Split between you
Your guest covers half the fees and you cover the other half.
You absorb
Your guest pays the round number and the fees come out of the gift.
Worked example using Stripe's standard New Zealand card rate at the time of writing. Processing costs are set by Stripe and can change or vary with the card used; the exact fees for your gift are always shown at checkout before you pay.
Pick whichever setting feels right; you can change it any time in Settings, or let your guests decide at checkout.
A few questions, answered
Who pays the gift fees?
You set this per registry. By default your guests cover the fees so you receive the round amount you set. You can also split them 50/50, cover them yourself or let each guest pick at checkout. The breakdown is shown to the guest before they confirm.
What does the $52 cover?
It covers the registry builder, the live link your guests open, your dashboard, hosting, the wedding-week summary email and support from a real person at hello@wellwishes.co.nz. You pay it once, at the end of setup, and publishing is free. You connect your bank with Stripe when you publish, which you can do from eight weeks before your wedding. The setup fee is not refundable once paid unless required by law, or unless we close your registry or stop providing WellWishes to you for a reason other than a breach of our terms.
Are gifts refundable?
Yes, until 24 hours after payment, using the link in the guest's receipt email. The part of the payment going to you goes back to their card. The 3% WellWishes fee and processing fees are not refundable unless required by law. After that the gift is final.
