Questions
Short answers to the questions couples and guests ask us most.
Common questions
- How does WellWishes work?
- You build a registry of cash gift tiles: a snorkel trip, a deposit on a first home, a bottle on the first night. We give you a link. You add it to your invitation. Guests open the link, choose a tile, write a few words and send a gift. The money lands in your account. That's the whole product.
- What does it cost?
- $200 to publish your registry, plus a small processing fee at checkout (about $7 on card, $3 on POLi bank transfer). Then on each gift, you choose who covers the processing fees: your guests, you or split between you. The full math is on the pricing page, shown as a worked example for all three modes.
- Can a gift be refunded?
- For 24 hours, yes. The gifter does it themselves. Every receipt email carries a one-tap refund link your guest can use up to a day after sending, no questions asked. After that window the gift is locked in; if something needs unwinding (a duplicate charge, a guest who paid twice), write to hello@wellwishes.co.nz and we'll sort it out one-on-one.
- Why do you ask for ID before paying out?
- Stripe (the company that processes the payments) is required by law to verify the person receiving the money. It usually takes a few minutes: a photo of a driver's licence or passport, your bank account details and a couple of questions about your address. We'd rather flag this clearly up front than surprise you on your wedding week.
- When do I receive the money?
- Each gift lands in your connected account on Stripe's standard schedule: two to seven business days for NZ banks. You can see the running balance in your dashboard from day one.
- Who's behind WellWishes?
- A small team in Aotearoa New Zealand. Customer support is a real person (usually Andrew) replying from a real inbox at hello@wellwishes.co.nz. There's no chatbot, no ticket queue, no canned reply.
- Something else?
- Email hello@wellwishes.co.nz with the question. We read every message and a real person will reply.
